St Werburgh's Arts Trail - 28th -29th September

Exhibition + Community Print event at Purple Patch Farm

At the end of Boiling Wells Lane - 1 - 4 pm Saturday + Sunday

As part of the St Werburghs Arts Trail join us at Purple Patch with the the LWA as we collectively carve and print farming focussed prints for the Good Food March on the 5th of October. We'll work together to gently carve away Lino and reveal a design that celebrates the Land Workers Alliance’ work for better farming in the u.k.

No experience necessary! We carve lino or Wood using simple Japanese tools which we will demonstrate how to use when you arrive. During this event there will also be opportunity to hand print and take home a small pocket sized print on fabric. Bring along your own, or purchase small scraps from our fabric bin.

Extinction Rebellion Banner Making

“We are facing an unprecedented global emergency. Life on Earth is in crisis: scientists agree we have entered a period of abrupt climate breakdown, and we are in the midst of a mass extinction of our own making”.

Join us to develop a series of protest placards and banners to support upcoming actions with Extinction Rebellion. A chance to find out more what you can do for Climate Justice, meet people already involved in the XR movement, and learn some skills in Printmaking. Suggested donation £3 - all proceeds go towards materials for the workshop and the groups we support.

This workshop will be over a few evenings, starting on the 15th August. All Welcome but spaces will be limited so please email us if you plan to come. We would especially like to welcome those who are interested in hearing more about the process of joining XR, as there will be opportunities to chat with the XR arts group who will be joining us for this session.

Bristol Womens Bike Project + Easton Arts Trail

As part of Easton Arts Trail join us at Cato Press with the Bristol Bike Project as we collectively carve a powerful women fixing her bike. We'll work together to gently carve away Lino and reveal a design as tribute to all the brilliant work that the Bristol Bike Project’s Womxns Night have achieved over the 9 years they have been running. This banner will hang in their workshop to celebrate all the brilliant womxn that have empowered themselves and their legs to cycle.

No experience necessary! We carve plywood or lino using simple Japanese tools which we will demonstrate how to use when you arrive. During this event there will also be opportunity to hand print and take home a small pocket sized spanner/ratchet/cog from a whole selection of tools that are being designed to fit alongside our woman.

A Celebration of Family, Community and Creativity - At the Trinity

We will be running a printing workshop for children as part of the launch event for Bristol Refugee Festival in June.

Come along and help us print a huge flock of birds flying for freedom onto a banner to be displayed during the main festival. You will also be able to print your bird onto a poster to take home.

No previous printing experience necessary. Your also welcome to bring a T-shirt you’d like to print onto.
